Windows comes with a default set of tools for just about anything you want to perform on a PC, but with the growing diversity, some tools are either outdated, or don’t fit the profile at all. In case you require measuring and close inspection of elements on your desktop, Screen Beagle bundles up some useful utilities to help you out.

There isn’t an actual interface to the application itself, but the general preferences menu shows up on initial launch, as well as a description panel to let you know how things work. Included tools let you magnify custom screen regions, take screenshots, measure various areas, or identify color codes.

By default, a tray icon is added so you can easily access all components. However, you’re free to assign hotkeys for all of them, and even enable custom icons for those you regularly use. There are some other quality and general options, such as magnification options, and whether or not to show cursor.

The magnifier constantly follows your cursor, actually becoming it. The only purpose is for viewing, with the area and zoom configurable from the preferences menu. In case you want to grab screen activity, the dedicated tool for this operation lets you select a custom desktop area and save the picture under some popular picture formats.

You can determine the color code of any pixel on screen through the dropper tool. A small window accompanies you, with a magnification area for better selection, and codes displayed in RGB, RGB Hex, HSB, CMY, CMYK, and HTML. There’s also the possibility to measure screen objects with a ruler, while info is shown in both inches and centimeters.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Screen Beagle is a reliable set of tools for technical work on the desktop space. Configurations give you the possibility to comfortably trigger tools, while the variety and info they provide are more than enough to make the application worth at least a try.
