Video Vista is a very simple application developed to set a video as desktop wallpaper.
Aimed at users who wish to get rid of static desktop backgrounds, Video Vista comes with very intuitive options and a plain and simple GUI.
There are several other apps on the market designed to do the same thing, so Video Vista tries to make a name for itself with a very basic approach that’s created to attract both rookies and professional users.
The problem however is that Video Vista doesn’t manage to impress at all, offering only a few tools and support for just two formats, namely MPEG and AVI.
You can create a list of videos to be used as desktop wallpapers and even save and load them back at any given moment.
Of course, Video Vista allows users to quickly jump from one video to another using dedicated buttons in the main window.
Everything’s pretty simple, but although a help section is available too, this didn’t work during our testing. Additionally, the app lacks many important features, such as hotkey support to quickly switch to the next clip.
In addition, Video Vista sometimes seriously stresses up the CPU, but this also depends on the video you wish to use as wallpaper.
As a conclusion, Video Vista is an interesting project, but all the good things basically stop here. It lacks too many features and works in a way that may even disappoint rookies, which means that major improvements are absolutely needed.
