The number of users who need to work on multiple desktops at the same time has grown significantly lately, so every single app that’s able to create virtual desktops quickly gains our appreciation.

Virtual Desktop Assist is one possible solution for all those users who wish to juggle with several desktops by pressing a single key, promising to offer a smooth and fast experience.

Installing and setting Virtual Desktop Assist up isn’t too difficult, so let’s get straight to the main point of the review.

Using the application is extremely easy because the developers allow users to switch between desktops in three possible ways: straight from the main interface, using a tiny bar placed above the taskbar or using the so-called accelerator keys (practically a bunch of shortcuts especially created with this purpose).

The configuration process doesn’t even exist because there are only a bunch of settings that can be changed, but nothing too complicated to make you go crazy when opening it.

What we did notice during our test was actually a compatibility issue with Windows 7. Every time we switched to another desktop, our operating system automatically disabled the Aero effects, claiming there’s some issue with Virtual Desktop Assist. Of course, that’s only a minor flaw that could easily be corrected in the next versions, but it might bother a user or two.

All in all, Virtual Desktop Assist could be a nice tool to use, but paying that much for a software solution that still has some issues isn’t quite a smart investment.
