SpeedCommander is a file managing system that focuses on speed (as its name implies) and comes with several useful features.
The interface of the program is familiar. You can easily navigate within your files and folders, thanks to the split view.
So, you can use basic tools, such as copy, move, delete and rename files and folders, as well as view their properties.
But you can also use a multi-rename tool, wipe files and folders or compress them (to several formats, including ZIP, RAR, TAR and 7Z).
In addition, you can extract content from archives, split files, run an application, open Command Prompt and modify file attributes (e.g. date of creation, modification and last access).
Plus, you can use a comprehensive search function (e.g. select file attributes like offline, hidden, compressed, temporary, sparse file).
Furthermore, you can print files, pick a link source and create a hardlink, copy the file name, details, full path, current or UNC path to clipboard, set a filter for folders, enable branch view mode, compare folders, use a file synchronization tool, create a folder favorites list and quickly access system folders.
SpeedCommander also lets you copy or format a disk, map a network drive, connect to FTP, use a built-in web browser, as well as customize the interface when it comes to toolbars, commands, keyboard shortcuts, font, and others, backup and restore settings, and much more.
The file manager takes up a moderate amount of system resources and includes a help file. Unfortunately, it is only available in German and this is the biggest disadvantage of the tool. Otherwise, we strongly recommend it to all users, since it clearly comes bundled with some very interesting features.
