Surf the web using one of two browser engines, with tab support, favorites manager, light resource usage, as well as media downloader #Web browser #Browse Internet #View web page #Viewer #Display #Browse
The current popular gateway to the information superhighway is the web browser. You probably picked a favorite by now, but this doesn’t mean alternatives are not worth a shot. For instance, Goona Browser is packed with a plethora of familiar, useful functions, as well as its own set of features.
The setup process is done before you realize. However, you need to make sure that .NET Framework is installed on your PC for the application to work. The browser itself is based on the Gecko engine, with the possibility to switch to WebKit technology, depending on your preferences, with this done from the options menu.
Tab support makes it possible to stay connected to multiple pages at a time. These can be arranged in a custom order. What’s more, the application also comes with a built-in file explorer, with all default context menu options at your disposal, while navigation is done in a new tab, similar to a web page.
The initial starting page can be configured to quickly launch history items, while also showing the favorites manager. This means you’re able to save favorite web pages for quick launch. However, startup options can be tweaked to have last visited pages brought up, while the home page is not limited to a single entry.
Although it comes with support for popular search engines like Google, Yahoo!, or Bing, you’re free to include your own by writing the specific string format. There’s a download manager to help you grab files, which can be set to trigger an external manager to handle operations.
Unfortunately, the application isn’t all fun and games, showing some serious stability issues, especially with modern web page content, and on latest Windows iterations. This is caused by faulty .NET Framework integration, with a high chance to end up in a permanent crash at every startup.
Goona Browser looks promising, and can keep your attention for a while, providing an impressive array, and diversity of features. Unfortunately, with major stability issues all the way, none of the built-in features can be of any use, since you can’t really get anywhere after a while.
What's new in Goona Browser 0.6.1.3:
- Better disposing system
- Just a group of improvements to reduce RAM consumption and references to unexistent/outdated objects
- Multithreaded "Post a Tweet"
- Now Goona Browser doesn't hang for a bit when you hit the "Post tweet" button. Posting is made on a separate thread, much silently and flowlessly.
