Everyone is riding on the information superhighway nowadays, and you’re doing it right now. On a PC, it’s best to use a web browser in order to benefit from everything a website has to offer and how it does that. Among others, Madfox for Windows wants to become a heavy player on the market through simplicity and speed.
After installation, you can go ahead and fire up the browser to go on some pages to see how well it performs. You’re even offered to make it your default browser, but this can also be done later on. Note that the application is heavily based on Firefox, so if you have it installed, Madfox won’t run until Firefox is closed.
Moreover, if Firefox is already running, trying to open this application only brings up a new Firefox window, and the same situation applies when Madfox is running. For aesthetics, the application relies on a classic window style to store all of its features, with the upper toolbar being home to most functions and menus, the address and search fields, bookmarks, and tabs, with the rest of the space used to display content.
The set of features is pretty decent. You are able to store all frequently visited pages in the bookmarks manager, as well as on the upper toolbar. History is kept track of just in case you want to revisit a page closed earlier. A home page can be set to load every time you launch the web browser.
Unfortunately, practicality is heavily affected by the code used to show pages and modern content can’t properly load. Speed also leaves more to be desired, and although system resource usage is impressive, the rest of the features aren’t so much. Extensions are also supported, but only older Firefox extensions work, and the built-in feature to look them up isn’t working as intended.
Madfox for Windows is just a simple web browser that wanted to take on the virtual world, but slowly backed out when things got difficult. System resource usage is among its few advantages, and even if the set of feature looks promising, the way pages load, speed, and overall behavior keep it from being an important player on the market of web browsers.
