Softpedia Editor's Review for Mass Downloader
|
Internet file downloader and zip browser
Written by Bogdan Popa on November 15th, 2011
There are a lot of download managers out there, that’s for sure, but Mass Downloader is the first application that’s supposed to help you download multiple files at the same time using the maximum available speed.
That sounds of course pretty great, but is that really so?
Well, Mass Downloader can definitely take advantage of your high-speed Internet connection, but it can’t do wonders unless your ISP doesn’t provide greater download speeds.
Nevertheless, Mass Downloader is a pretty good download manager as it can monitor clipboard and automatically take control of the file almost instantly. Plus, it comes with addons for the most popular browsers out there, including Firefox and Internet Explorer.
We’ve tried it with Mozilla’s browser and everything went just fine, without hampering computer performance at all, not even when downloading files at high speeds.
Mass Downloader supports HTTP, FTP and HTTPS protocols and even comes with a built-in FTP browser. Plus, it has the power to let you view the files included in a ZIP archive and choose to download only the files you need.
The interface is pretty much similar to the one used by so many other download managers out there, but Mass Downloader offers users the power of customization by allowing them to change toolbar buttons and their color.
Plus, geek users will be delighted because the application is being delivered with a very rich settings menu, which means there’s a lot to configure in there.
The truth is that Mass Downloader is quite a great way to download files from the Internet, but the fact that it doesn’t come quite cheap makes it the backup solution to many other freeware tools on the market.
