Yahoo Satellite Maps Downloader has a name that pretty much sums up its functionality - you can use it to download satellite map images from Yahoo! Maps.
The installation procedure is rapid and does not require special attention from the user. Downloading maps is done in a user-friendly interface, which is not particularly appealing visually but easy to navigate.
Initializing a new task requires you to set up a name and output directory. Once you specify the left and right longitude, top and bottom latitude, together with the zoom level, you can start the downloading operation.
Log details are shown on the right side of the screen, and Yahoo Satellite Maps Downloader reveals the total images it has downloaded from Yahoo! Maps.
It is possible to use a tool for converting degrees, minutes and seconds to degrees, check out the log file, view and combine maps, as well as re-download failed images. From the Options panel you can specify the default path to save, and set up proxy parameters (server name, port, user name and password).
Yahoo Satellite Maps Downloader is very light on the system resources, as it requires a minimum amount of CPU and system memory. It finishes downloading tasks swiftly and even includes a help file.
No error dialogs have been displayed in our evaluation, and the app did not hang or crash. Thanks to its intuitive layout and overall simplicity, less experienced users can quickly figure out how to work with Yahoo Satellite Maps Downloader.
