Xpunge is an extension that allows the user to empty the trash folder and compact folders in multiple accounts with a single action. Thunderbird offers these two operations for a single account through separate entries in the File menu ("File -> Empty Trash" and "File -> Compact Folders").

When multiple accounts are setup, repeating the same steps for each account can become quite tedious. This is where Xpunge comes in, combining the two actions (emptying the trash folder and compacting folders) in the convenience of a single button.

Xpunge actually introduces two new buttons on the main toolbar, one used to process a single account and one used to simultaneously process multiple accounts, all done with just a single mouse click in each case. Xpunge will work on all types of Thunderbird accounts, including IMAP e-mail accounts.
