Flashblock is a Firefox plugin that enables you to remove Flash animations. It comes packed with a standard set of settings, and it is easy to install by all types of users, whether they have experience with this type of software or not.

It is required to restart Firefox to apply the new modifications. You can ask Flashblock to block HTML5 video and Silverlight, as well as create a list of websites to exclude (i.e. allow them to load Flash content).

Last but not least, the add-on permits you to use Weave/Firefox Sync to synchronize settings across multiple platforms, provided that the whitelist exists. JavaScript must be enabled for Flashblock to work. There are no other options available through this extension.

The small app is stable and doesn't cause Firefox to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs, nor does it affect overall system resources usage consumption.

We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation. All in all, Flashblock comes in handy to all users who want to deactivate Flash videos, especially when they significantly slow down the webpage loading speed.
