A handy and easy to use application that acts as an advertisement banner, popup and cookie blocker with offline browsing capabilities

editor's review

Nowadays, browsing the Internet can be a dangerous and a bit annoying operation, as most websites assault you with advertisements and popups. A solution to this problem is downloading and using an ad blocker, such as Ad Annihilator.

This application can be used with a minimal amount of effort and can disable banners, popups and cookies on any site, as well as view statistics.

Surprise-free installation and simple GUI

The setup process is completed in a timely fashion, as it does not come bundled with any offers from third-party products, and brings you to a fairly intuitive interface. It integrates a few buttons in Internet Explorer, thus allowing you a quick access to all its options.

Consequently, we can safely say it is dedicated to all types of users, including those less experienced.

Blocking and enabling advertisements

As stated above, this small add-on enables you to easily block ads, popups and cookies, yet you should know that instead of banners, links to the developer’s website are going to be placed (only in the trial).

Enabling all the aforementioned items on the currently active website is possible with just a click of the button, as well as disabling the tool altogether.

Filter ads and generate statistics

In addition to that, you should know it is possible to bring up lists with all the built-in filters and their respective actions (reject/accept). You can add your own, enable or disable particular ones, and sort them according to priority or name.

All banners, popup windows and cookies blocked can be displayed as a list in a new panel with just a click of the button, while it is also possible to view statistics pertaining to them.

A few parameters to tweak

Last but not least, it is possible to configure multiple settings pertaining to advertisements, such as choosing another color to replace banners with, playing a sound when a banner is shot and showing or hiding a visual hint when a popup is blocked and selecting an audio file to play.

Bottom line

In conclusion, Ad Annihilator is a pretty handy solution for those looking to get rid of banners, cookies and popup windows. It is accessible to all types of users, it does not hinder the computer’s performance and its response time is good.
