    Softpedia Editor's Review for Radmin

Work on a remote computer exactly as if you were right there at its keyboard

Written by Andreea Gheran on November 28th, 2011

How would you like to be the boss of more than one computer and to have full control of the activity that takes place on each and everyone of them? Luckily, that is possible nowadays via remote computing software. This sort of application allows you to manipulate several work stations in your network from your own computer in an efficient and efortless manner.

Radmin is a remote administration software that enables you to work on another computer via your own. In order to do so, it includes a server that should be installed on the remote station and a viewer that needs to be deployed locally so it can display the remote screen on your monitor in a resizable window or in full screen.

The server side runs as a service, so it automatically launches at system startup and is highly secure, prompting for login details every time you try to connect to a remote computer. It allows you to create new users and set permission for each of them and also serves as support for the text and voice chat features.

The viewer side of the software is the fun part, because from here you gain full control over the remote computers. Your efforts in this module narrow down to creating a new connection, based on the IP of the remote computer. Once you've accomplished to successfully access it, you can start monitoring the computer and assess one of the most outstanding features of the software, such as: file transfer, remote shutdown, Telnet and text / voice chat.

Radmin supports multiple connections, which means you can allow a group of people to view your screen remotely, such as in a conference. Also, multiple connections permit you to control more than one computer at a time, which makes the software useful for teaching or helpdesk sessions.

Although it may seem like it sports a complicated architecture, Radmin was built for the average user and does not require a great deal of networking knowledge. Additionally, the rich documentation should be enough to get you to know its ins and outs in a decent amount of time.
