DHCPD32 is a small-sized and portable software application that provides a DHCP server, as the name suggets. The package includes the source code written in C++ and it is geared toward advanced PC users.
Since there is no installation involved, you can save the program files to any part of the hard disk and just click the executable to launch DHCPD32. Another possibility is to copy it to a USB flash disk or similar removable storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers.
What's more, it does not crate new entries in the Windows registry or Start menu, thus leaving no traces behind after removal.
The GUI is represented by a command-line window and a graphical frame, where the DHCP thread is automatically started. It is possible to modify the IP pool starting address, size of pool, boot file, WINS/DNS server, default routher, mask, domain andme and additional option, as well as to view and clear the log.
We have not come across any issues in our tests, since DHCPD32 did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. It has a good response time and minimal impact on computer performance, running on low CPU and RAM. On the other hand, it has not been updated for a while and it is likely to have compatibility issues with later operating systems.
