FreeSMS is a software solution which, as the name may suggest, has been built to aid you in sending free text messages from your computer. It supports a user-input proxy server.

The installation process does not pose any kind of issues, clicking the “Next” button being the only action you have to take.

The interface is quite minimalistic and clear-cut, consisting only of a menu bar, a few boxes and buttons, and an interactive picture of a mobile phone. In addition to that, comprehensive and well-drawn Help contents are provided in a HTML document, thus ensuring that even novice users can easily work with it without encounter any issues.

This utility enables you to send SMSs to any number you want to. It is possible to input several names and phone numbers with just a few clicks, and thus creating a phone book.

You can also add a signature, so that you can let the people you are sending text messages to know who you are. The actual message can be written directly on the screen of the mobile phone, while you can also add a proxy server and port through which to rout the SMS.

All this data can be saved to the hard drive with just a click of the button, so that you can use them at a later date. Keyboard shortcuts are supported for almost all the actions available, yet you should know that they cannot be customized.

The system’s performance is not going to be affected in any way by this tool and all jobs are completed in a pretty fair amount of time. The interface is not particularly easy on the eyes, yet it is user-friendly.

Taking all of this into consideration, we can safely say FreeSMS is a pretty decent piece of software, yet you should know that it has been discontinued and thus, it is not going to receive any more updates, and sending messages might not work.
