Free WAV MP3 Converter is a software with a pretty suggestive title. It can encode WAV files to the MP3 format and viceversa.
You should pay attention when installing this tool. Since it is an ad-supported product, Free WAV MP3 Converter offers to download and install a third-party component that it doesn't require to function properly.
The interface of the application is straightforward and easy to navigate through. You can import audio tracks by using the treeview, file browser or "drag and drop" method (batch processing is supported as well).
In the list you can view the name, path, format, tag, artist, comment size, date of last modification, duration, frequency, and others.
In the "Options" menu, you can disable file type filters (MP3, WAV), select the output destination and configure encoder settings when it comes to the audio format, sample frequency rate, channel mode and bits per second (there is an option to reset settings to default).
Furthermore, you can add folders that include or exclude subdirectories, view file properties or open its containing folder, rename files, as well as use keyboard shortcuts.
During the conversion process, you can view the current and overall progress, as well as elapsed and remaining time, speed, source, destination and a log file. When it finishes, you can open the target directory.
