Softpedia Editor's Review for foobar2000
|
The full version of a very recommendable media player
Written by Elena Opris on November 9th, 2011
If you have been using the computer for a long time and learned a thing or two about how it works, then you have probably realized that the best software comes in a small package.
That rule also applies for media players. Foobar2000 is a small audio player with a minimalist interface.
After you initiate the program, you can opt for a quick appearance setup, where you can configure the background color and playlist layout.
Basically you choose how you want your albums and songs to be displayed, create a playlist, and hit the play button. It's great if you have thousands of tracks you want to listen to.
In Preferences you can integrate Foobar2000 into the context menu, change the interface's font and color, and assign keys to various shortcuts.
This audio player allows you to listen to uninterrupted playback of consecutive songs, and install add-ons that are not already listed there.
Due to the fact that it's such a small and limited application, Foobar2000 doesn't take too much out of CPU and memory.
Hardcore users would most likely choose this software as their number one audio player, but novices would miss nice graphics, animations, and various features that come with other similar products.
So, all you have to do is decide what kind of user you want to be. In case you're the kind of person who prefers keeping light and portable software on your computer, then you should take a look at Foobar2000. It's free to use, after all.
