Have sound emitted for every keyboard button you press, with the possibility to choose from an abundance of instruments provided by the Microsoft MIDI Mapper. #Keyboard music #Keyboard sound #Play sound #Keyboard #Play #Player
You might have noticed that your mobile phone can emit sound effects every time you type, just to spice things up. There’s no such function built-in Windows but it doesn’t mean there are no methods of adding audio feedback to button pressing, and KeyMusic is just the type of application to enable this.
First of all, the application comes in a lightweight package, and you don’t even have to go through a setup process to make it work. This means that it’s possible to have it stored on a thumb drive just in case you decide to use it on other computers than your own, without putting stability at risk, because registry entries are not modified in the process.
What gives this application quite the advantage is that it relies on the Microsoft MIDI Mapper for the default sound bank, which means you have an incredibly large collection of audio effects to choose from. Although you can’t add your own, the libraries here are more than enough for anything you have in mind, ranging from classic piano to gunshot effects.
The interface is pretty intuitive, and although quite compact, it makes it easy to understand how you can choose and configure sounds. First of all, you need to pick the device of interest, which is done from a drop-down menu, meaning it can also be an external MIDI device if it’s connected to your PC.
Changes are applied on the spot. Just so it doesn’t overlap with other programs which emit sound, there’s a dedicated slider to help out. Moreover, the tone can be selected from a drop-down menu, and this changes the effect regardless of the instrument you select.
All things considered, we can state that KeyMusic, might not really offer actual enhancement or practicality to your workflow, but it does manage to add a cool enhancement to general desktop use. Any connected MIDI device can be used, while the default Windows MIDI mapper already contains an abundance of instruments to choose from.
