There’s a lot to benefit from using your computer for daily activities. Specialized tools can also be used to generate sound or create music without instruments or a great deal of effort. As such, Music App comes as a small tool which can generate random MIDI sequences by simply running it and nothing else.

Before you can enjoy all this application has to offer, it’s best to make sure that Java Runtime Environment is installed on your computer. On the other hand, you can store Music App on a thumb drive in case you need or want to use it on other computers, without having to worry that the target PC gets affected, because registry entries remain intact during the process.

The core function is instantly triggered once the application is launched. Feedback comes in the form of a visual representation, as well as audio notes which are rendered on the spot. Music App uses the Windows MIDI library to generate the notes, but you can’t select which instrument to use, which is a shame considering there are well over 100 default instruments.

Audio feedback is generated one note at a time and the notes used are of random frequency values. However, the generator doesn’t go on forever and stop in less than a minute. Unfortunately, there are absolutely no controls to start over, play, pause, let alone record even this lonely session.

Every time a note kicks in a colored rectangle appears in the main window with random values for color tint and size. You can’t interact with them, and they don’t really play an important role in overall practicality.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Music App is a rather confusing tool, with no dedicated purpose, or great deal of practicality. In fact, without any export options there’s little to no benefit from using the application, and playback only lasts for a few seconds, with a new one triggered only by running the program again.
