Police Scanner is a tiny and useful application that provides direct access to some police scanners across US and Canada (only the Waterloo region).
This is a portable tool, which means that installing Police Scanner is not necessary. You can just drop it somewhere on the hard disk and click it to run.
As an alternative, you can move Police Scanner to a USB flash drive and carry it with you whenever you're on the go (e.g. traveling), as you can run it on any machine without prior installers.
What's more, the Windows Registry does not get new updates, and leftovers are not kept on the hard disk after eliminating the utility.
Once initialized, you can select one of the regions from the list, such as Chicago, Omaha, Detroit, Queensland, San Diego, Las Vegas, Memphis, and Denver. The audio stream is loaded into a media player, and you can pause it or adjust the volume level.
We have noticed a minimal CPU and RAM consumption during Police Scanner's runtime, so it doesn't affect system performance. We have not come across any problems in our tests, as the app did not hang, crash or show error dialogs.
