Share to Speech for Windows 8.1
Share to Speech is an intuitive and easy to handle piece of software created specifically for systems running Windows 8.1, that can only be installed from the Store and allows you to convert the text from news articles or other similar sources of written material to audio files, enabling you to listen to the MP3s whenever you have time.
Straight-forward user interface
The main window of Share to Speech is fairly attractive, featuring the streamlined Metro interface that is sufficiently easy to work with, even for less experience individuals.
The main categories of files are ‘Now Speaking, ‘Library’ and ‘To Listen’, the last of which enables you to choose the save folder for the MP3s generated by Share to Speech, while on the lower edge of the screen, a progress bar shows the length of the file.
Share or paste items to have them read aloud
To get started in adding items to the program, you can use the ‘Share’ charm for articles or other online web pages that support sharing; nonetheless, you can also simply copy the whole body of text that you would like to listen to, then choose the ‘Paste’ option from the toolbar and the entry corresponding to your needs from the menu.
As such, you can select ‘Speak Now In Background’, ‘Add to Now Speaking List’ or ‘Create MP3 to Listen Later’; the last option will generate the audio files and store them in the ‘To Listen’ folder, enabling you to move it to another MP3 playing device or software.
Share to Speech lets you pick the preferred ‘Voice Gender’, supporting the same languages as Windows. Optionally, you can set the ‘Library Cache Size’ and the number of ‘Maximum Items In Library’.
Handy text to speech tool
All in all, Share to Speech for Windows 8.1 is an efficient and reliable application which aims to save you time by providing you with spoken versions of the latest news that you want to read, allowing you to listen to them while working on something else on your PC, or when you're on the go, from an MP3 player.
