EXIF Eraser is a lightweight and portable piece of software capable of automatically erasing all EXIF information from image files, in order to reduce overall size occupied on the disk. It comes in handy the moment you have numerous images that take too much space on your digital camera or other types of devices.
As installation is not a prerequisite, you can place the program files in any location on the disk and just click the executable to run.
There is also the possibility of copying EXIF Eraser to a removable storage device, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no prior installers.
What's more, the app does not create new entries in the Windows registry or any other part of the hard drive, leaving it clean after removal.
The GUI is made from a normal window with a simple layout, where the "what you see is what you get" concept clearly applies, since there are no other options available, apart from the ones visible in the main frame.
So, all you have to do is point out the directory containing images with EXIF data with the help of the folder view, optionally include subdirectories, and start the task with a mouse click. Logged data includes total scanned files, cleaned EXIF, files with no EXIF, along with errors (if any). There are no other notable options provided by this app.
EXIF Eraser carries out tasks swiftly while using low CPU and RAM, so it does not affect the PC's overall performance. It has a good response time and works well, without triggering Windows to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation. Thanks to its intuitive layout and overall simplicity, EXIF Eraser can be handled by all types of users.
