If you enjoy taking photos with your digital camera, then you are probably editing them before emailing them to your friends and family or uploading them on your website.

RoboImport is a small utility that enables you to download the images directly from your digital camera's memory stick and effortlessly rename them before transferring them to a dedicated folder on your computer.

First off, you should know that while the program has a high compatibility with Canon cameras, it works equally well with a wide variety of card readers. Image-wise, it can read JPEG, THM, TIFF as well as the common RAW formats, including MRW, CRW, CR2 or NEF, to name a few. Some users would argue that it could support more of the standard photo formats.

RoboImport allows you to process the latter to a DNG format, which ensures the photos are saved with fidelity and you can access them in the future. You can convert RAW files to DNG using the embedded converter from the Options window.

The highlight of the application is the token function that considerably simplifies the renaming process. To put it simply, before you can transfer the images, you can easily attach a tag – model name, date, ISO, camera owner, image category, author, season, etc. – so you identify files or folders easier.

It is worth mentioning that the program also includes a GPS coordinates stamping option that allows you to tag the photo based on the location it was made. This feature can come in handy if you usually travel a lot and like to go through the albums from your previous vacations from time to time.

On a side note, in case you are not satisfied with the results of the transfer, then you can undo the operation.
