Comics Editor

Comics Editor is a tiny and portable piece of software that you can use to create and edit the metadata of comic book files with the CBR or CBZ format.

Since there is no setup pack involved, you can save the program files anywhere on the hard drive and just click the executable to launch Comics Editor. There's also the option to save it to a pen drive to run it on any machine effortlessly. More importantly, it doesn't change Windows registry settings.

Wrapped up in a user-friendly interface, the app invites you to open as many image files as you want, and preview them in the main window.

You can find out the size, width and height of each picture, select the page type (e.g. story, front cover, deleted), make it a single or double page, edit the date and time, as well as define a key and URL.

It's possible to zoom in and out, view all panels, edit balloons when it comes to the text and settings (e.g. fill, stroke, smoothness), as well as add blank pages.

Comics Editor lets you open XML files, folders and packages, as well as to save information, packages and folders. You can add metadata fields and values.

There were no stability issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that the software application didn't hang, crash or prompt error messages. It had minimal impact on computer performance, running on low CPU and memory.

On the other hand, the interface needs a lot of improvements in the graphical department, since it looks rudimentary. Plus, the options are not that intuitive for less experienced users. Nevertheless, you can try Comics Editor yourself, since it's free.
