Softpedia Editor's Review for ReaConverter Lite
|
Convert image files from 400+ formats in a single operation
Written by Elena Opris on November 15th, 2012
ReaConverterLite is a simple-to-use program that allows you to turn image files into other types (JPG, BMP, GIF, PNG, TIF and ICO) and to perform a few operations on them, like resizing and cropping.
The interface of the application is clean and intuitive. Thanks to the Explorer-based layout, you can easily locate and import pictures for processing. But you can also take advantage of the "drag and drop" functionality.
The file queue allows you to view the name, location and type of each item. In the following step, you can resize, rotate and crop pictures, change the canvas size and color resolution, as well as add borders and shadows.
Additionally, you can apply a black and white, blur or sharpen filter, remove noise, as well as adjust the brightness and contrast levels. Each one of these options can be configured. For example, when converting images to black and white, you can use the dithering method, enable auto mode or apply the Floyd-Steinberg, Maximum-Entropy or thresholding algorithm. ReaConverterLite also allows you to preview modified images.
In the last step, all you have to do is establish the output directory and extension. Plus, you can specify a file renaming rule, run a wizard, as well as set ReaConverterLite to overwrite existing files, move the original items to another folder and to change the converted file date.
The configuration file can be saved for further processing. Moreover, you can configure settings related to multipage files (e.g. convert only particular page numbers, save a group of files to a single file), output color resolution and DPI, EXIF and IPTC information, thumbnail copies and output formats (e.g. JPG quality, GIF animation delay time).
The image processing tool comes equipped with tools for both first-time and experienced users. It supports multiple languages, includes a help file and quickly finishes a task while using a moderate amount of system resources. The output images have a good quality after conversion. On the downside, you cannot set ReaConverterLite to turn off the computer or to open the output directory when the task is done.
