Free TvDB is a lightweight software application designed specifically for helping you track your favorite TV shows and new episodes, check out detailed information about each episode, and view suggestive images.

This is a portable program that can be run on your computer without having to go through installation steps. Plus, it doesn’t leave any entries in the Windows registry.

You may copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices and take it with you whenever you need to keep a collection with your favorite TV shows.

The tool reveals a clean and intuitive GUI that allows you to store the TV series in an Explorer-like layout from where you can easily browse throughout the content of your shows. You can also view plenty of images in a full screen mode.

Free TvDB gives you the possibility to add a new TV show by entering its name. Based on the user-defined words it displays the search results in the main panel and info about them, such as ID, language, show name, and date. Using just one click you can add series to the database.

What’s more, you can perform searches inside your database, click on the target episode for grabbing detailed information about it, such as number, title, director, genre, writer, rating and status, image and overview, as well as mark items as watched.

The utility provides short descriptions for all episodes including suggestive pictures, and builds up a list with the cast showing data about the name of the actors and their roles.

A gallery with images is also on the feature list, and you are allowed to jump to the next or previous page and click on a photo for activating the full screen mode.

You may check out various posters, copy photos and posters to the clipboard, view a fan art gallery, watch the opening theme video and find related videos on YouTube, navigate throughout a list with all videos, and watch bloopers.

Tests have shown that Free TvDB carries out a task not very quickly as it needs extra time to display the information related to your favorite TV shows. It is not quite friendly with system resources, so it may burden the overall performance of your computer.

You can export data to plain text, CSV or XML file format, make a database compact by removing images or series that are no longer present, clear YouTube image cache folder, and delete all posters, fan art images, actor photos and IMDb pictures, as well as automatically perform backups at startup, and configure proxy settings.

To sum things up, Free TvDB delivers basic features for helping you keep track of your favorite TV shows. However, it is not quite fast and you may stumble upon some errors while using it.
