Softpedia Editor's Review for Boilsoft Video Splitter
Will split, cut or trim a large AVI or MPEG file into smaller video clips
Written by Elena Opris on March 5th, 2012
Boilsoft Video Splitter is an application that you can use to seamlessly cut media files into several chunks.
It supports several video formats, including AVI, 3GP, MPG, VOB, RM, MP4, FLV, MKV and even the MP3 audio extension.
This type of tool is required the moment you want to store a video online or on a removable device, and find out that its size is too big.
The interface of the application is plain and simple. You can import videos by using the file browser or the "drag and drop" method.
So, you can view the frame rate and size, preview the video and use basic media player tools, such as play, pause and stop.
When it comes to cutting the file, you can split it into equal-size clips or by selection (set the start and end time when playing the video).
After you press the "Split now" button, you can select the split method between direct stream cut and encode mode, after which you can specify the output destination for your video pieces.
The program quickly finishes a task while using a moderate amount of system resources, and contains a step-by-step tutorial with snapshots.
However, the trial version has some severe limitations. Also, Boilsoft Video Splitter seems to have some compatibility issues with Windows 7 (after pressing the "Split now" button, the program crashed every time, during our tests). But it works flawlessly on Windows XP.
All in all, Boilsoft Video Splitter is a very good tool for cutting video files and we strongly recommend it to all users.
