The user interface is simple and straightforward, so you should not have any problems getting around it, no matter what level of experience you have.

In order to perform a task, you must specify the input file (the drag and drop method is not supported) as well as the output destination, customize settings, select output format, start time and end time, and start cutting.

The output format of the videos can be AVI, MPEG, WMV, MOV, DVD, VCD, SVCD, and the program recognizes files with the AVI, MPG, MPEG, MPV, WMV, WMV, ASF, MOV, 3GP, 3G2, MP4, M4V and FLV extension.

Advanced options include setting audio and video compressor, audio channels and sample rate, audio and video bitrate, as well as resizing output.

Before initiating a task, you can preview the source and the output file. In addition, you can enable Kate's Video Cutter to open the output directory after the task is completed.

However, only the output directory you set at the global level will be opened, whether you select another output destination after pressing the Cut button or not.

A task is completed in a reasonable amount of time, depending on the size and format of the files (while using a low amount of system resources), but Kate's Video Cutter doesn't really handle all the aforementioned formats.

For example, it was unable to convert files from MPG to AVI, 3GP to anything, MOV to anything, and so on. The program requires QuickTime to be installed for 3GP, MOV and others, but even so, it doesn't work in these cases.

In conclusion, Kate's Video Cutter is a decent software for cutting and converting video files, but it needs some debugging. Moreover, it would be much better with more advanced settings, a help file, and a more attractive interface.
