River Past Video Cleaner is a tool that can encode various video files, from 3GP, ASF, AVI, MKV, MOV and more to AVI, DV, MKV, WMV and other extensions.
The user interface is standard and easy to use. Once you add a file (the “drag and drop” method and batch conversion are supported), set its output format, destination and audio/video settings.
You can convert video without sound, select the video and audio compressor, sample rate, channel, bitrate, resolution and frame rate (original or custom), as well as regulate timecode and adjust quality.
Furthermore, you can play video from the interface in the default media player, initiate Explorer to verify the output files, select action to take if the file already exists, view properties for each file placed in the queue, establish file parsing components, as well as add or remove audio and video decoders.
A task doesn't take long time to complete and the application manages to keep a very good image and sound quality, while using a high amount of system resources. It also guides you to the developer's website from where you can install missing codecs, comes with guidelines and is easy to use by beginners.
Too bad the trial version has some limitations (as you can see from reading the product description below). But the program didn't freeze or crash during our tests, so we strongly recommend River Past Video Cleaner to all users.

Here are some key features of "River Past Video Cleaner":
· Native codecs. It uses the native codecs from the original vendors for the encoding for the best compartibility. For example, it uses Apple's QuickTime codecs to encode MOV, and Microsoft's codecs to encode WMV, instead of third party codecs.
· Pulse Regulation. This is our timecode correction techology to fix timecode problems in the original video file. It removes duplicated video frames, and insert frames if it sees gaps in the stream.
· Multi-core support. For most file formats, it uses multiple thread for encoding and decoding, utilizing multi-core processors.
· Automation. Not technical savvy? Most settings can be selected for you so you don't need to worry about what resolution or frame rate to select.
· You can select video size, bit rate, NTSC/PAL, frame rate, audio codec, sample rate etc.
· Advanced options available in Video Cleaner Pro.
Requirements:
· Pentium III/Celeron CPU of 500 MHz or above
· A sound card is required
· DirectX 8.0 or above
· For WMA output, you must have Windows Media Format Runtime 9 installed. It is provided in a separate download package.
Limitations:
