Working with video files on a daily basis requires a powerful application able to play them all and, probably most importantly, do it fast and easy. There are many players that handle all types of files, including MOV videos but only a handful dedicated to this specific format.

Abdio Free MOV Player falls in the latter category because it was designed to handle MOV files exclusively and without hampering computer resources. Installation is a straightforward process so you should be able to work with it in a matter of moments.

The interface is minimal and very simple, thus enabling you to easily load the files and view them. However, since drag and drop are not supported, you have to use the buttons in the main window to add the desired files you want to play.

However, daring to try and open media files of formats other than what the name suggests, leaves you surprised, as the name might get you fooled. A list of supported file types is not available, but it is able to render several more formats, both audio and video.

The application comes equipped with an integrated media converter. It takes you step by step through the process, requiring you to set various aspects, such as input file, audio, and video quality settings, a few editing options, as well as output format and destination.

Otherwise Abdio Free MOV Player works just like any other dedicated player out there. It doesn't stress the system resources a lot, but we've experienced a couple of crashes while testing it on Windows 7.

This application is nothing more than a tool that supports QuickTime's MOV format files, and just a few more. Even though a basic operation like drag and drop is not supported, you can easily manage to view your files, but expect some glitches as well because not all MOV clips will play.
