As the name says, BitComet FLV Player is a tool that allows you to play video clips with the Flash Video format (FLV). But it also supports SWFs, and can be handled even by first-time users.
This is a portable piece of kit, so installing BitComet FLV Player is not necessary. You can simply drop the executable file on any location on the hard drive and run it.
As an alternative, you can save the app to a USB flash drive or similar external device and run it on any computer. This way, you can carry BitComet FLV Player in your pocket whenever you're on the move.
Furthermore, Windows Registry does not receive new entries (minimizing the risk of system errors), and no leftover files can be found on the hard drive after program removal.
The interface of the application is based on a common window with an uncomplicated layout. Opening FLV and SWF items can be done by using either the file browser or "drag and drop" method. Plus, you can open videos from URLs.
So, you can view the full size of a video (i.e. in full screen mode) and make BitComet FLV Player stay on top of other windows, associate the tool with FLV items, as well as switch to a different language for the interface. Unfortunately, BitComet FLV Player does not integrate some basic media player functions, such as pause and stop.
BitComet FLV Player runs on a pretty low amount of CPU and system memory, and has a good response time. It worked smoothly during our tests, without causing the operating system to hang, crash or pop up error notifications. Although its features are limited and the app has not been updated for a long time, BitComet FLV Player can be easily handled by first-time users.
