Blues Media Player

Dedicated media player apps have been around for quite a while, and while things have certainly changed as people moved to streaming and getting their media from the cloud, having a dependable solution at your side is valuable in itself. You never know when you might need it.

Blues Media Player adopts a design whose primary focus is function: though it may look overly simple and plain at first glance, lots of features are to be discovered upon further inspection. Some of the highlights include playlist support, a wide array of customization options, as well as a toolbox for your multimedia management needs.

Perhaps the most immediate reaction to discovering some of the features on offer is that you’re getting an awful lot with this one. The side panel enables quick access to your media libraries, which you can then export into the tool through dragging.

Operating the program should come naturally to most, as I’d consider this UI design to be quite friendly to users of all types. As stated in the beginning, you can go ahead and create playlists containing your favorite audio and video files to have an easier time accessing your content.

Format support shouldn’t be a problem, and owing to the audio processing algorithms, the tool is very much suitable for audiophiles and more discerning users overall.

Finding an equalizer in a media player isn’t anything particularly new, and the one you’re getting here is as no-nonsense as they come. Being able to save equalizer presets is a very nice bonus, too.

Of course, you also get a tagging tool to satisfy your organizational needs, and finding a certain file shouldn’t be too difficult with Advanced Search. The Properties window for each entry can also get very detailed, plus it’s worth noting that editing file metadata is available in that same menu.

That’s not all, though. Video and audio conversion tools are also available, and they’re hardly scaled down, as I found the amount of configurability to be surprisingly deep, especially for a tool you wouldn’t necessarily expect to specialize in such duties.

Blues Media Player is a lot more packed that I’ve managed to write here, and with that, it’s worth pointing out that you’re essentially getting all of this for free. As the program is donationware, I would recommend donating to the developer if this media player is to your liking: after all, it’s clear that a lot of effort went into producing a player of this quality.
