MPEG4 Player is an application with a pretty self-explanatory name - it allows you play video files with the MP4 format.
The program is wrapped in a plain and simple-to-use interface. Video clips can be loaded by using only the file browser because the "drag and drop" functionality is not included. It is possible to import multiple items and create a playlist.
So, you can use some basic media player functions, such as pause and stop. But you can also navigate back and forth in the clips, adjust the volume and switch to full screen mode.
In addition, you can save the playlist, use a search function, remove an item from the list or clear it completely, change the aspect ratio and capture frames (as PNG), as well as set MPEG4 Player to stay on top of other applications.
Moreover, you can load subtitles and fix their delay, adjust the audio delay and video speed, as well as make file associations and set MPEG4 Player to remember the current playlist.
The video player requires a moderate amount of CPU and system memory, has a good response time and supports keyboard shortcuts. No error dialogs have been displayed throughout our tests and MPEG4 Player did not freeze or crash.
On the downside, you cannot set MPEG4 Player to minimize to the system tray or to exit after playback. Furthermore, you cannot make image adjustments (e.g. brightness, contrast) and the interface needs some improvements. However, we must take into consideration the fact that MPEG4 Player has not been recently updated.
