Skype needs no introduction. Lite is a version of Skype in which all its unnecessary features are removed, for a fast and easy navigation.
Installing it was a bit confusing, as double clicking the executable file did not enable any physical window, but the software is automatically installed in Program Files.
It's so light, you don't even have to hit the Next button!
What makes Skype Lite so great is the fact that you are not annoyed with features and extensions anymore – you know, the stuff you never ever use. It is simply a minimal and uncluttered version of Skype.
Features include no toolbar installation, removal of the Internet Explorer plugin, Mozilla plugin, autorun on boot and desktop shortcut, as well as changing the advertised shortcut to a common shortcut in the Start menu button.
In addition, Skype Lite does not change the homepage to Skype.com.
What Skype can do is already known: video calling, conference calling, global user directory, instant messaging – all in the simplest manner possible. Lite might now have some missing features, but its level of performance is as strong as ever.
People who are used to being practical will love the feel that Skype Lite offers.
The software ran perfectly on our computer systems, and the difference between standard Skype and Skype Lite was heavily seen. Navigating through Lite was easier, and the CPU usage was minimal. Do not be afraid to experiment with it. Less is more.
