Skype no longer requires any presentation, every computer user know that it is the most popular VoIP (Voice over IP) client on the market. Skype Lite, however, is a version of the software in which all its unnecessary features are removed, to ensure fast and easy navigation.
Installing might be a little bit confusing, as double clicking the executable file does not launch any visible window, but the software is automatically installed in Program Files.
This minimal and uncluttered version of Skype does not install any toolbars, thus reducing user frustration to a minimum. It also features removal of the Internet Explorer plugin, Mozilla plugin, autorun on boot and desktop shortcut.
Just like the desktop version, Skype Lite requires users to enter their username and password, or create a new account, if they do not have one. Then invite friends and start chatting.
What Skype can do is already known: video calling, conference calling, sharing files, instant messaging – all in the simplest manner possible. Lite might now have some missing features, but its level of performance is as strong as ever.
People who are used to being practical will love the feel that Skype Lite offers. Basically, they get the same complexity and functionality of Skype, minus the unnecessary components that would hog the PC resources.
The software runs perfectly on any computer, and the difference between standard Skype and Skype Lite is easily noticeable. Navigating through Lite is easier, and the CPU usage is minimal. Users should not be afraid to experiment with it. Less is more.
