Dictionary .NET is an application that you can use to look for word translations and definitions. It is powered by Google Translate.

This is a portable program, so installing Dictionary .NET is not necessary. So, you can place in on an USB flash drive and run it on any computer. More importantly, your Windows registry entries will remain intact.

The interface of the tool is clean and intuitive. You can toggle between two tabs to select the input and output language.

So, you can bookmark words, use a "text-to-speech" function, as well as a text editor and virtual keyboard.

If you open the context menu, you can copy, paste and save text as an HTML or TXT file but also download OCR. When you switch to another application, Dictionary .NET automatically minimizes into a clock image on the desktop (simply right-click it to pop up the tool).

In the "Options" menu, you can enable Dictionary .NET to run at startup, start minimized and check for updates. But you can also select the opacity level and mouse activation command, change the wallpaper, remove dictionaries from the interface, and more.

The program uses a moderate amount of system resources and didn't pop up errors during our tests. However, the "Word Recall" feature is not available in the free version and the "text-to-speech" function stopped working after the first time we tried it.

All in all, Dictionary .NET is a very good alternative to manually looking for word definitions and translation over the web (as this can become a time-consuming process), so we strongly recommend it to all users.
