If you've just heard of programming, it's not an easy task, with a lot of functions, expressions and documentation of which you need to be well-aware. What's more, it's the foundation of everything you interact with on a computer, from web pages to games and applications. In this regard, HTMLAsText comes as a small utilities so developers can convert HTML files to text for easy processing.

There's no need to waste time going through a setup process because the application is portable and is ready for use as soon as you download it. System registries are also kept intact, and you can keep it on a USB Flash drive along with target files to use on the go.

A simple, yet highly-intuitive interface is responsible for putting all features at your disposal. There aren't any extra menus or tabs, which keeps navigation easy. Two browsers let you pick source and destination, with most options only requiring you to check or uncheck them.

Just like the name suggests, you only get to work with HTML and TXT files. Drag and drop is not implemented so you need to use the dedicated explorer to pick items you want to convert. This is either done by selecting a HTML file or wildcard, but it would have been better to simply select a directory for batch processing.

Options put at your disposal come in handy, especially if you want to get rid of expressions and functions required by coding. In other words, you can skip text stored in specific tags, have bold text encase in custom characters, include table elements or simply specify the amount of characters to be displayed per line.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that HTMLAsText is a lightweight but practical application when you need to extract large amounts of info or text from HTML files. Options you get to work with come in handy for arranging and preparing text for more processing. Although batch converting is a little difficult, it's only an inconvenience that can easily be overlooked.
