A portable program worth having when you need to crop PDF files so that they can be read on e-book devices, while offering support for batch processing

editor's review

PaperCrop is a lightweight Windows application whose purpose is to help you crop PDF files so that you can read them on the small screen of an e-book device.

Since this is a portable program, it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry.

You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you need to crop PDF filess on the breeze, without having to go through installation steps.

PaperCrop gives you the possibility to upload files into the working environment using the built-in browse function or “drag and drop” operations.

One of the best features included in this tool is a smart system which automatically highlights the areas that need to be cropped. Plus, you can manually set up the cropping parameters (e.g. top, bottom, left, or right values, margins, gaps).

By default, the tool saves the converted PDF items to the same location as the original ones.

What’s more, you can make the program generate the pages with one or two columns, select the page orientation (landscape or portrait), fit images to the screen, output a single image per page, as well as perform other page adjustments operations.

The utility offers support for batch processing, which means you can add multiple PDFs and process them at the same time.

Last but not least, you can process the current or all pages, save the current settings to the Favorites section for using them in your future conversion projects, as well as extend the utility’s functionality via Lua scripts.

During our testing we have noticed that PaperCrop provides very good output results and carries out a task quickly. However, it eats up CPU and memory, so the overall performance of the computer may be affected.

All in all, PaperCrop offers a handy set of parameters for helping you crop PDF files so that they can be read on e-book devices.
