HEX-Editor

HEX-Editor is a Notepad++ plugin that enables users to view text in hexadecimal mode, as the name suggests. It comes packed with a handy configuration set for all user levels.

In order to install this plugin, all you have to do is move the DLL file to Notepad++'s installed files, namely to the "Plugins" directory. From this point on, you can access the tool from the "Plugins" menu via the word processor's main application window.

A shortcut is provided for quickly switching to hex mode, in case you don't want to access the "Plugins" menu every time.

It is possible to compare hex codes and clear comparison results, as well as to insert columns and replace patterns.

As far as options go, you can customize the start layout between 8-bit, 16-bit, 23-bit and 64-bit, hexadecimal and binary, Big and Little Endian mode, as well as to establish the column count and address width.

Other options of HEX-Editor let you specify file types to automatically open in hex view mode when loaded into the word processor, modify colors (e.g. regular text, selection, compare, bookmark) and alter fonts (e.g. name, size, emphasis).

The lightweight application does not burden Notepad++'s overall performance. It has a good response time and performs well. We have not come across any issues throughout out evaluation, since the plugin did not hang or crash. HEX-Editor comes in handy to all advanced Notepad++ users.
