Some of the main advantages of writing using computers are as follows: it is fast, cheap, accessible and you can quickly correct any mistake with the least amount of effort.

Nonetheless, writing using a computer has some drawbacks, the most important of which is that it makes it incredibly easy to get your attention sidetracked.

This said, Worst Draft is a ultra-minimalist word processor that is designed to keep you as focused as possible on your work by eliminating distractions.

It does so by making sure that you cannot access any other app while you are using it (thanks to an enforced full-screen mode), that you cannot delete more than a few recently typed words and by eliminating most of the editing tools usually found within text editors.

Since its philosophy is based on removing the ability to revise and most elements that make word processor distracting at times, it comes as no surprise that the interface is as barren as they get.

The application does not require any installation and can be launched by simply double clicking on the provided executable, considering, of course, that Java is installed on your computer's system.

Upon launching the app, you are met by a compact window that makes it possible for you to either create a new document or to open an already existing one.

As we were mentioning before, the app works only in full-screen mode and you cannot open other apps while you are using it. You get a primary workspace and that is just about it.

There are no all-encompassing toolbars, no other complicated tools, and you cannot even change the font type. It is worth mentioning that you can alter the size for the text (Normal Font or Large Font) from the Font menu.

Worst Draft is a stripped-down piece of software and it is clearly one of those apps that you either love or hate, nothing in between. Thanks to its strict approach towards increasing writing productivity and creativity some users might appreciate its simplicity, while others might desire something a bit more feature-packed.
