Typing chemical equations in any word processor can be an arduous task. Managing subscripts, superscripts, italics, capitalization and arrows takes a great deal of time, which would be better spend on other activities.

FX Chem is a simple application that can automatically convert equations written in plain text to the correct formatting. The program can be fully integrated into Microsoft Word, but allows you to copy and paste the generated equations into any text processor.

Quickly type chemical equations

After launching the application, all you need to do is type the required data, including elements that should be superscripted or subscripted. Then, the program automatically applies the necessary formatting, resulting in a correctly written chemical equation.

You can copy the created formula and paste it in any supported text editor. You can also export it directly as a LaTeX, MathML, Microsoft Office, LibreOffice or OpenOffice equation.

Additionally, the application allows you to save the created formula as a SVG, BMP, JPG, PNG or TIF image file.

Customize equation formatting

When creating an equation, you can modify text font, color and style. Moreover, you can change the level and size of various equation components. The application can draw equilibrium arrows in multiple forms, depending on which style best suits local conventions.

You can choose whether or not FX Chem should automatically italicize phase information, as well as set the minimum size of reaction arrows.

Target applications to quickly paste the formatted equations

FX Chem can automatically target certain programs, allowing you to quickly switch between various windows. After writing an equation, you can have the application copy it to the clipboard and bring up the targeted application, enabling you to quickly paste the information.
