Softpedia Editor's Review for Periodic Table
|
Contains all the chemical elements of the Periodic Table along with images of the elements in their natural state
Written by Elena Opris on January 6th, 2012
Periodic Table is a tool that displays the chemical elements found in the periodic table, as well as their image representation.
This software can come in handy if you are trying to comprehend the fundamentals of chemistry.
Once you initiate it, you automatically receive a daily tip which explains the meaning of the current date in the chemistry world (but it can be disabled from popping up).
The user interface of the program is plain and simple. The periodic table is automatically displayed and if you hover over an element, you can view its picture.
Furthermore, if you click an element, you can read detailed information about it, in a panel on the right side of the screen. But you can also view data about alkali metals, transition metals, non metals, halogens, and others.
In addition, you can change the display mode to basic properties (e.g. atomic mass, density), atomic properties (e.g. atomic radius), discovery (i.e. discovery date, elastic properties (i.e. Poisson ratio), hardness, and others.
Plus, you can view a graph of the atomic mass, search for text, view electron configuration and enhanced images of the elements, and much more.
The program uses a moderate amount of system resources, includes a well-drawn help file (with snapshots) and didn't cause freeze, crash or pop up errors during our tests. It is very simple to use, so we strongly recommend Periodic Table to all individuals interested in chemistry.
