There probably isn't another application with a name as straight forward as Dice. The actually funny fact is it really is a virtual die. It might seem to some as a useless application, but that would probably be until these individuals forget their pair of dice at home. The application itself is useful because it allows one to customize the number of sides for the die. It also works for pairs of dice.

The application isn't about flashy interfaces and innovative features. It delivers a simple and useful experience, for moments when you desperately need a pair of dice, usually for playing any number of board games. There are preset die side setups to choose from, ranging from D2 to D100, or you could select a number yourself. For pairs, you'll simply have to double the side number. Two 6-sided dice are actually translated as a 12-sided die within the program. Keep that in mind, especially since you might feel that certain games requiring more than one die can't be played using this app.

The biggest downside to this app is the fact that it's not portable, although it would have made sense to have it that way. While there could be ways to reaching this goal, it's unfortunate to have to go through all that trouble and not have it from the start that way. It won't take much of your space, that's for sure, but the inconvenience of spending even a few moments installing the app somewhat breaks the functionality of the app. Still, if you don't have any other options at hand, Dice is the way to go.

Dice is an application that delivers exactly what it advertises. It is truly unfortunate that there is no portable version that would make so much more sense in the context and scenarios it was probably designed to work in the first place.
