X-HFS - HTTP File Server

X-HTTP File Server (HFS) is a file sharing application that enables the transfer over HTTP protocol. Since it acts as a server it enables the user to impose rules and restrictions regarding the data access.

This is a portable release of the program, which means that there is no need to install it on the system and using it does not leave any traces behind. More than this, removing it from the system can be easily done by just deleting its folder.

The user interface is minimalist and it is populated with the main areas for monitoring file transfers, with complete details about speed, current status, progress or IP address issuing the request.

HFS may appear quite feeble at a first glance but it packs a lot of punch under the hood. The developer made it extremely flexible and versatile in terms of managing the connections and transfer limits and the web interface users at the other end get to see.

Among the options of the application there is the possibility to log specific events and actions and enabling various types of limitations, some regarding the transfer speed (either overall or for a single address) others touching on the maximum number of simultaneous connections or downloads.

Accessing the server is done by inputting its IP in any web browser. You can customize access by assigning a specific port for the connection. Adding the data does not require too much effort, either as a mere drag and drop in the application window makes it ready for access.

HTTP File Server is a simple but powerful but simple server for transferring data across the web. It runs out of the box but there are sufficient options to customize both its web interface and the way it works.
