This is the portable edition of File Seeker. As its name implies, the software application allows you to perform a thorough search on your files and folders. It can be easily configured.
Since installation is not an issue, you can simply save File Seeker to a removable storage device (like a USB flash drive), store it on any computer and directly run its executable file.
The most important aspect is that the Windows Registry is not updated with new entries, and no leftover files can be found on the hard drive after program removal. Also, you can always carry File Seeker in your pocket whenever you're on the move.
The interface of the application is clean and pretty intuitive. With the help of the Explorer-based viewing mode, you can quickly locate and select the folder you want to search in. Once you specify the filename (or part of the name), you can initialize the scanning procedure.
In addition, you can include subfolders, pick multiple folders to look into, and specify a custom folder to browse (by writing its path). It is also possible to set file filters by making the tool seek directories, read-only, hidden or system files, within hidden folders, system folders and compressed files. Plus, you can specify a timestamp and enable automatic database updates. Settings can be restored to their default values.
The straightforward program uses a low amount of CPU and system memory, has a good response time and rapidly delivers results without causing the operating system to freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs; we haven't come across any problems during our testing. Thanks to its intuitive layout and overall simplicity, File Seeker's features can be easily figured out, even by inexperienced users. No recent updates have been made.
