This is the portable edition of GhostBuster, a small application that shows all devices installed on the computer, even ghosted ones.
Since there is no installation involved, you can drop the executable file anywhere on the hard disk and just click it to run.
There is also the option to save GhostBuster to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort, as long as it has .NET Framework installed.
What's important to take into account is that the Windows registry and Start menu are not getting updated with new entries.
The interface is based on a single window that gets immediately populated with device information at startup. It is possible to add or delete classes, devices and wildcards, as well as to hide unfiltered devices. Apart from viewing device information, you can create system restore points, just in case Windows starts experiencing issues after making modifications to devices.
We have not come across any issues in our testing, since the tool did not hang, crash or display error notifications. It runs on a pretty low amount of CPU and RAM, so it does not concern the overall performance of the PC. All in all, GhostBuster offers a simple solution to viewing ghosted devices.
