Computers can be used to design nearly any product, and can even collaborate with other machines to push necessary codes for building the actual product, and we’re talking here about CNC machines. As such, Cheewoo Part CAM is an application with which to analyze CAD parts and generate the G-code.

The application’s core features is to process single DXF shape files in order to generate corresponding G-code you can then use with 2-axis CNC cutting machines. Effort on your behalf is minimum, and a CNC machine doesn’t really need to be connected to the computer for the process to run.

You find the set of features in a minimalistic window which uses classic elements in the design. Most of the space is where the DXF shape file is displayed, while the upper toolbar is fitted with corresponding tools to manage code and set parameters.

In order to be able to generate a code you need to create a new job. A window is brought up, which lets you select the DXF file of interest, for which a preview is generated before creating the project, just so you’re sure you picked the right part. Scale, width, and height values are also displayed.

The main window preview section is fully interactive, allowing you to pan and zoom. Once the file is imported the code is ready to be saved. On the bright side of things, you can access the program settings panel to manage code. Here you can handle G-code and M-code values and arguments, dwell, tool radius compensation, control axis settings, as well as lead in and lead out radius.
