Hexit is a practical software tool for computer programmers or students in Computer Science, which includes a hexadecimal calculator and hexadecimal-to-decimal converter.
This is a portable piece of kit, so installing Hexit is not necessary. It means that you can simply drop the executable file on any location on the hard drive, and immediately run it.
As an alternative, you can store Hexit on a USB flash drive and run the executable file on any computer. What needs to be mentioned is that the Windows Registry is not updated with new entries, and no files are left behind on the hard drive after program removal. Plus, you can carry Hexit in your pocket wherever you go.
The interface of the app is based on a standard and uncomplicated layout. The calculator supports integer additions, subtractions, multiplications and divisions, along with C/C++ data types and standard logic operations (and, or, xor, complement, modulus, bit shift).
Typing in hexadecimal code instantly reveals its decimal correspondent, along with its binary translation. It is possible to select the data type when it comes to the integer and real type, disable the status bar, remove the border and make Hexit stay on top of all the other windows.
The small app runs on a very low amount of CPU and system memory, so it doesn't place a burden on the computer's overall performance. We have not come across any issues throughout our testing; Hexit did not hang, crash or display error dialogs. Thanks to its intuitive layout and overall simplicity, Hexit can be easily figured out, although it has not been updated for a very long time.
