Atelier Web Firewall Tester is a software that tests the capability of your Personal Firewall (PFW) against outbond attempts.

This will help you tweak your existing PFW software for improved protection or make a rational choice of a PFW from within the available alternatives in the market-place.

A significant number of PFW software is unable to cope with unauthorized outbond attempts and will fail on each of the four tests AWFT submit them.

Some PFW software have settings which allow sensible improvements after a few tweaks. You have to try and obtain the best compromise without dramatically reducing the quality of your network experience.

Either way, bear in mind: If your PFW software does not score 10 in the whole set of tests, your system is vulnerable. If it approaches a score of 10, this is a good indication that a serious work has been done by your PFW software producer to reduce unauthorized outbond traffic risks.

AWFT will probe the Personal Firewall Software with a set of 6 tests. These tests use known techniques for attempting a connection to an outside node bypassing the firewall guard.

Because these techniques are not secret, any trojan horse installed on your machine can use, or is already using, them for accessing the outside World and uploading confidential and private data from your computer without being noticed.
