Wallpaper Updater can be set to automatically change the wallpaper based on a set of user-defined rules. This intuitive software utility features support for Picasa Web Albums, customized rotation frequency, and more. Given its intuitive set of options, it is safe to say that the program is designed while keeping both first-time and advanced users in mind.

Installing this application is a fast and easy task. Worth mentioning is that it offers to integrate a shell extension in the Windows Explorer context menu, but this option may be disabled.

Wallpaper Updater is wrapped in a user-friendly interface with a familiar structure divided into two main areas, for configuring local disk and Picasa Web Albums settings, respectively.

It is possible to point out a local directory whose image files you want to take into account for the automatic wallpaper rotation, or authorize an online account for Picasa Web Albums.

Wallpaper Updater lets you specify the order between consecutive and random mode. The images can be switched through on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, at every Windows startup, or at a custom time expressed in years, months, weeks and days, and more. The configuration can be saved to file and used at a later time.

We have not come across any issues in our testing, since Wallpaper Updater did not hang, crash or display error messages. It runs on low CPU and RAM, so it does not affect the overall performance of the PC.

Wallpaper Updater sports some handy options for customizing the automatic wallpaper rotation, and they can be configured by all user levels. Its interface could use some work in the visual department, though.
