All Image

Although the computer is a virtual space, it doesn’t mean it’s completely secure. Frequent backups are an important task, with the possibility to save an entire disk drive to be restored later on. In this regard, All Image comes with the means to safely create a virtual image of drives, load, and manage them.

The application comes with two components that can be launched separately, but there’s also a built-in function to quickly launch the other. Running All Image brings up a large panel with options to either read or write disk. However, before launch, you’re asked whether or not to associate image files, which can be IFU, IFC, EXE, or IMG.

By default, the application attempts to read your hard disk drive, so it can easily display related details and available options. Reading can not only be done for fixed drives, but also USB flash drives. Reading the disk creates an image of the target, while writing restores files inside the image. Some additional options are at your disposal to check boot drives, or even wipe out an entire disk.

The other component is the virtual drive manager. In terms of file support, it can work with all images it can create and are mentioned above, plus NRG and ISO. What’s more, you can use this component to create ISO virtual images from disks.

Unlike most applications of its kind, a virtual device is not created automatically, nor is there an option to do so. However, when you decide to mount an image, a small window pops up, letting you load the target file, and specify a drive letter to use, with a drop-down menu putting all options at your disposal.

Bottom line is that All Image might not be a complete solution to back up your disk drives, nor work with virtual images of too many formats, but it gets the job properly done. The visual design is simple and lets anyone accommodate in a jiffy. Components are separated so you only use the one you need, making it worth a try overall.
