Run on-demand or scheduled incremental or full backups of your most important files and folders, and restore them whenever needed. #Backup folder #Create backup #Schedule backup #Backup #Restore #Schedule
Losing data due to virus infections, hardware failure, or other causes is, indeed, frustrating. That is why it's never a bad idea to create backups of your most important data, as you never know what might happen. One of the applications you can try out in case you want to schedule periodical backups is BitSilo.
BitSilo features a one-window interface that comprises all the options for creating and scheduling backup jobs. Although it might seem like a good idea to get an airier working environment, everything will seem natural once you get accustomed to the application.
The backup sets are, in fact, backup jobs you can run individually. Each of them can be edited, meaning you can configure the backup destination, the archive type, the indexing options, as well as the cleaning rules that should be applied. You are advised not to ignore the automatic cleanup settings, as backups might fail if there is insufficient storage space available.
The files and folders to include in the currently selected backup are displayed in a separate panel, right next to the exceptions area, where you can enter the names (or parts of them) of files that should be excluded from the backup. Unfortunately, you cannot use other filtering criteria, such as the file extension.
Aside from on-demand backups, which you can run at any given time, BitSilo allows for scheduled backups. You can instruct it to copy data daily, weekly, or monthly, your choice.
Moreover, it features incremental backups as well, meaning it can analyze the content of the input folders or files and copies only the new or modified content, thus saving storage space.
Since it creates backups, it comes natural that BitSilo can also restore data. It can query all the backup locations based on your criteria and show all the matching content, so you can choose the file you need.
BitSilo allows you to create copies of your files and folders periodically. With a few added features (e.g. the possibility to encrypt or password-protect the backup archives) and a few modifications to the overall outdated look of the interface, BitSilo might become a good alternative to more complex backup software.
